COMMUNITY LEAGUE MEMBERSHIPS
As per EMHA, all Hockey
Players (including AAA/AA) in the Edmonton area must
pay a 'Corporate Rate' Community League
Fee of $25 per family at the time of registering for hockey.
It must be purchased along with your
hockey registration (online or in person). In the event that you have
all ready purchased a 2010-2011 membership from your community league,
you still must pay the $25 fee and you will need to go to your community
league for a refund. If you have Hockey Players
with 2 or 3 different organizations, the Community League Membership
must be paid with the first child you register, and bring your
receipt
to your next child's registration. This year EMHA and the Edmonton
Federation of Community Leagues ruled that it
will be up to the Community Leagues to handle passing out the
memberships and cards. If there are any questions or concerns, you can
contact EFCL at
www.efcl.org.

Underage
/ Overage Applications
If you would like your child to play in an age category above or below
their designated category, you MUST:
- Contact your club's Registrar (see
KC Hockey Overview and click through
for contact information)
- Register your Player in their regular division for the current season
- Complete the Player Acceleration (Underage) or Overage application
forms (both forms can be downloaded from
the Forms page) and submit with supporting documents to your Registrar (preferably
by email in pdf format). Supporting documents can/should include letters
of recommendation from your child's previous Coach and/or Director
and/or President and/or Doctor (for Overage). The more support, the
better.
The application must be reviewed and approved by
KC Hockey and EMHA prior to the Player's first skate with the alternate
age group, therefore it would be best if you start this process as early
as possible.

Transfers,
Drafts,
Imports
Movement of BB (House Hockey) Players within EMHA
Players in Initiation (Timbits), Novice, Bantam and Midget are able to
transfer to and from KC Hockey, but mobility is not available for Atom
and Peewee. Where a Player plays his last year of Novice will determine
the Player's resident association for Atom and Peewee. For example, a
Player who plays with St. Matthew for his second year of Novice must
stay with a KC Hockey Club (see the
KC Hockey Overview page) and
he would not be able to register with the Eagles the following season,
but he would be still be able to move from St. Matthew to St. Charles if
he so chooses.
A Player moving with his family from one district to another within
Edmonton can choose to register with KC or the alternative program in
that area. A Player's residence as of September 1st will determine where
the Player registers. Please see
EMHA's website
for further information.
Movement of AA (Rep Hockey) Players within EMHA - Drafts and Imports
DRAFTS - Players wishing to try out for a Rep program other than their
home Club may only do so if they have been released (cut) from the team
they are trying out for.
For Players who choose to do so
may participate in the city-wide Draft. The Player must obtain a written temporary
release form from KC (Bruce Fitzpatrick - phone 780-777-9539) which
authorizes the Player to try out for a spot on one of the other Edmonton
Club's teams. Once the form is signed the Player has 7 days in which to
try out for any Clubs that will allow him to skate.
If after the 7 days, the Player has not been picked up
by
one of the other Clubs, the Player returns to KC. If
the Player is signed with another Club, at the end of the season (by May
1st) the Player must provided a written letter of intent to EMHA stating
whether they wish to stay with the new club or return
to KC the following year.
For further information,
see the
EMHA Operating Directives (page 34).
IMPORTS - Import rules only apply to Midget AAA. This
rule allows Players from another Local Minor Hockey Association to try
out for a Midget AAA team within the EMHA area.
All Players released from
another LMHA and who request to try out for an EMHA Midget AAA team will
be put into the Import draw. Import draws are made immediately upon
telephone call to the EMHA Registrar or designate. This gives a player
the opportunity to try out for another team without delay. For further
information, see the
EMHA Operating Directives (page 38).
